Our 5 for 25 Campaign is over–and, yep, we announced and worked on 5 different Yuri games throughout the year.
Only one full game released last year, but most of the rest will release in 2026, and we’re really excited for you to play them.
Let’s recap…
5 for 2025 Recap
Winter Heat is already out! You should go play it now if you haven’t and keep an eye out for updates because we’ll be having a few in the upcoming months!
We’ve planned out the outline and core mechanics of Toxic Yuri and already made some steps in how the art will be handled, while the script isn’t finished just yet we’ve already made a lot of progress and it’s set to release relatively soon, with a demo even sooner!
Ryugaku Ren’ai has been going through a lot of planning and replanning, with considerations of switching engines, and difficulties with funding. Luckily, the transition and scope changes should be easy and simple, but this game is a huge undertaking and will take a lot of work to finish still!
We’ve been slowly working on Occult Hand of the Blood Lily for a few months and finally got to announce it last month, we have some work to do before we can release a demo but we’re working on that!
Our friend Joi has been hard at work on Gay It Loud and uploading WIPs almost daily on their Bsky account. There’s so much to see there!! This game was also revealed to the public last month and you should see a demo sometime extremely soon.
With the teacher strike in Japan, Life of a Dispatch English Teacher in Japan got some new traction in November, it was nice to see and specially allowing people to learn so much about what teachers are going through with that game!
How Did We Do?
Reflections from both of us:
Fruz:
I’m glad we were able to release technically two games last year, the development process of one of them was pretty swift and wasn’t part of the 5 for 25 campaign (Life of a Dispatch English Teacher in Japan) but it was nice to get two releases last year, and now this year we’ll have even more with the other games we announced. Toxic Yuri and Occult Hand of the Blood Lily should see no problems releasing in time plus there’s new upcoming projects to keep things exciting throughout the year, and while there’s still a few updates for Winter Heat to be in its ultimate form I’m happy with how our release went and how our first Kickstarter was successful even if it was small scale, and here’s to many more progress updates on Ryugaku Ren’ai. 🥂
Bea:
We got one release out just under the wire for 2025, and the other four in pretty healthy places so far. My wallet’s suffering a little for the lack of releases throughout the year, but that’s just part of starting a new studio, and Airship helped keep us at least a little alive throughout the year.
I’m a little less happy about our ability to do sustained marketing–I think the Kickstarter should have been a lot bigger, and we should have had a lot more demo updates throughout that campaign–but it was our first time, and a good learning experience.
As long as we can financailly make it to 2027, we are for sure going to be in a really strong place. Three more of our 2025 projects will release this year, and that’s going to be awesome. I really can’t wait for you to see it. Ryugaku Ren’ai is a wildcard right now, but that one is sure to be an exciting project once it finally ramps up in development.
2026
Stay tuned for our next post where we talk about our goals for this year! We’re already hard at work.
